Meet the Format iOS App. Built as a companion to Format's web platform, the Format iOS app allows users to build and edit their Format portfolio on the go. You can quickly upload photos, manage your website navigation, write a blog post, and view the changes directly on your phone in one streamlined workflow. You can download the Format app on the App Store today to check it out!
As the sole designer on the 3 person Format iOS team, I had a wide variety of responsibilities ranging from brainstorming new features and wireframe iteration to high fidelity mockups and asset delivery.
Onboarding
When designing the app, we placed a special emphasis on trying to translate the lively Format brand to the iOS app so they felt like a family. We decided that the best place to do this was before the user even signs up, in the landing screens of the app. This also extended to the sign up flow, gradually easing the user into the Format brand with a gradient of vivid reds and purples.
Due to the small size of our team, we had to work around time and tech restrictions, utilizing mainly default iOS UI elements to recreate the Format brand within the app.
